Galet!

The article

Here is a scan of the article from last friday. I was so surprised that Maria Montazami was one of the housewives they contacted. She is so sweet and so cool! I love her! Anyway I will translate the article for you.
"I belive we have Desperate Housewives to thank, for the increasing popularity of beeing a housewife. I have been home for about 5 years and usually gets 3 reactions... 1. Lucky you who has a rich huband. 2. poor you, you dont have a job. and 3. Poor you who has a husband that wont let you work. Rarely you get a genuin reaction "thats so good for you that you choose to stay home". I have been a housewife both in Sweden and Canada and it is a bit more exepted there than here.
Is there not a lot of cleaning?
Yes! There is a terrible amount of cleaning, sometimes you just have to leave the crap and go out and play. I have some sort of a cleaning schedule- bathrooms twice a week and I vacuum
every day. My kids and I play a lot have have tons of fun, and go look at animals. I just made a cake since my youngest turns 1 today.

Thats the lot kids! Sorry for the bad translation...  ;)

I just declined being on tv

I just recived an elmail from a major national production comany asking me to be in a tv show. They had read the article about me as a stay at home mom and wanted me to be in a show similar to "wife swap". I would love to be on tv but I would have to leave my kids for 8 days and thats is way to long! The point in beeing a stay at home mom is to be home with your kids. To leave a 2 and a half year old and a 12 month baby for 8 days is not helthy so i declined. Anything for my kids :) Love you babies!
Me and my daughter in her brothers old PJ´s. She was about 5 months here:)

A housewife- hot of the press

well. I am done making the cake when I got a phonecall from Expressen a national newspaper in Sweden and they wanted to interview me since I am a stay at home mom.. :) Thats funny! So I am looking out for my picture in the paper next week :)

Now I better go fix the rest of the birthday decorations and I will post pictures later on. Here is a picture of the cake as a teaser;) I decided to not go for the traditional round cake but a sqare just for variation. OOOH! Exotic!
Just kidding :)

You know you´r a tired mom when...

* You wonder why there is a hole in the bottom of the kids pj´s and no room for the head... Hm... I put it on upside down....

* It´s the most natural thing in the world that you have an audience in the bathroom.

* You almost wiped yourself with a dinosaur... Luckily your kid din´t wanna play with toiletpaper and you realized your mistake just in time...

* You put on a tiny diaper on you toddler and he is the only on to react...

* You get smacked in the face with a toy for falling asleep on the sofa...

It is all my own experiences... enjoy!

Monday Monday

Got up at 5,45 todya again and took my hour walk. No sun today, to bad. Today I have a chill day. Not much to do exept the usual, looking after the little ones, cleaning, cooking, changing diapers... I am going to shop for some vegetables and going to give the kids some money to buy flowers for their teachers since its last school day on thursday. And when I am out I will take a 40 min walk with the stroller. All for health and fitness... sigh. How I wish I was one of those naturally skinny persons that can eat anything anytime and still be 100 lbs... not fare. Well... I have 20 lbs of pregnancyweight left and my daughter turns 1 on wednesday, scandalous! After G was born it took me 10 months to drop the pregnancyweight. It´s a lot harder this time around! And after that is gone I still have 17,5 lbs left to my goal weight. Yipiekayey...

Tips to survive life as a stay at home mom

1. Nap.. if there is any chance of a nap.. take it! You´ll never know when you´ll be able to sleep nest or for how long...

2. Take a brake. Me and V regularly has a move night with cheese and crackers or just go for a walk alone or with a friend, but NO KIDS! You need adult time.

3. Face the facts- your house will never look like a Martha Stewart magazine while you have little kids, unless you have a fulltime nanny or a housekeeper... but then again.. who does?

4. Find time to do things you like a few times a week, scrapbooking, quilting, going to the gym.

5. Drop the guilt! It is the most comon most dangerous things that could happen to a mother. Let the guilt bite the dust. You´r not a bad mom just cuz you want to be alone sometimes. :)

Bty.. I am working on all of these things, I need to get better...

Just do it!

Today I have been frezing rhubarbs for the third timme this year. They keep growing like crazy and I am extatic! We also seem to be able to get alot of strawberries from our new garden :) But it will not be enough for all the things I have planned to make this summer. I am going to make strawberrylomonade, strawberryjam, and just regular frozen strawberries for smoothies and cakes. Luckily we live close by to a "pick you self" field of the most amazing strawberries. In our own garden we also have apples, gooseberries and currantbushes so I have a ton of things to can and freeze! Lovely!

And who can resist fresh sunwarm strawberries with milk and sugar? ;)

The 10 housewife comandments

1. Have dinner ready: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal on time.

This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him, and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospects of a good meal are part of the warm welcome needed.

2. Prepare yourself: Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking.
He has just been with a lot of work- weary people. Be a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift.

3. Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up school books, toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables.

Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift, too.

4. Prepare the children: Take a few minutes to wash the children's hands and faces if they are small, comb their hair, and if necessary, change their clothes.

They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.

5. Minimize the noise: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of washer, dryer, dishwasher or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet.

Be happy to see him. Greet him with a warm smile and be glad to see him.

6. Things to avoid: Don't greet him with problems or complaints. Don't complain if he's late for dinner.

Count this as minor compared with what he might have gone through that day.

7. Make him comfortable: Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or suggest he lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes.

Speak in a low, soft, soothing and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax and unwind.

8. Listen to him: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.

9. Make the evening his: Never complain if he does not take you out to dinner or to other places of entertainment; instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure, his need to be home and relax.

10. The goal: Try to make your home a place of peace and order where your husband can relax.
