Fun for fall

Wow it feels like forever since I had the time to uptade my blog! Today me and my now 3 year old son (since sunday) have been picking apples in the garden today and now I am drying them for snacks and freezing them for future apple pies. I am so lucky as to have a hot air oven wich makes the drying process a lot faster then just airdrying. Its a great and healthy snacks for both kids and healthy parends.

This saturday is the time for my sons cupcake party and I have made some trial cakes the past weekend and they turned out very nice!

The article

Here is a scan of the article from last friday. I was so surprised that Maria Montazami was one of the housewives they contacted. She is so sweet and so cool! I love her! Anyway I will translate the article for you.
"I belive we have Desperate Housewives to thank, for the increasing popularity of beeing a housewife. I have been home for about 5 years and usually gets 3 reactions... 1. Lucky you who has a rich huband. 2. poor you, you dont have a job. and 3. Poor you who has a husband that wont let you work. Rarely you get a genuin reaction "thats so good for you that you choose to stay home". I have been a housewife both in Sweden and Canada and it is a bit more exepted there than here.
Is there not a lot of cleaning?
Yes! There is a terrible amount of cleaning, sometimes you just have to leave the crap and go out and play. I have some sort of a cleaning schedule- bathrooms twice a week and I vacuum
every day. My kids and I play a lot have have tons of fun, and go look at animals. I just made a cake since my youngest turns 1 today.

Thats the lot kids! Sorry for the bad translation...  ;)

What ever happend to my baby sister?

Well having 6 children in a 4 bedroom townhouse is loud! There is not much chance for E to nap during the day so me and my mom just sent the 4 oldest in to town to go shopping and looking in stores. So it will be a few hours of peace and quiet and E is now sleeping and G is taking a bath with the boat my sister made for him. He loves it! My sister Elinor is 13 now, the same age I was when she was born and I dont think I have aged that much since then... but looking at her beeing almost as tall as my mom I realize a lot of time has gone by... Life is crazy! I remember her as a little toddler, scared of ballons, clay and anything with a funny feeling or texture... now she has a french manicure and mascara talking about fashion and trends... wow! How did that happend? Well... she was only 6 when I moved away from home and 8 when I married so I guess time stands still in my head, and then I get a bit chocked seeing that things and people still grow... Am I getting old?

Well... its not but it is nice and clean and I have brought out the big guns and cleaned the grill for tonights BBQ! The weather is perfect and I can´t wait to see my mom! Did I tell you my mom is Superwoman? She has been a stay at home mom for the last 27 years and raised 8 kids! How does she do it? How did she survive??? Anyway my mom is the best mom ever and I am so happy she is coming! Lova ya mom!

I just declined being on tv

I just recived an elmail from a major national production comany asking me to be in a tv show. They had read the article about me as a stay at home mom and wanted me to be in a show similar to "wife swap". I would love to be on tv but I would have to leave my kids for 8 days and thats is way to long! The point in beeing a stay at home mom is to be home with your kids. To leave a 2 and a half year old and a 12 month baby for 8 days is not helthy so i declined. Anything for my kids :) Love you babies!
Me and my daughter in her brothers old PJ´s. She was about 5 months here:)

The good housewifes guide

I know I posted something like this before but this the actual article. It´s funny how times has changed... I think most of the things are good and some are not... Can you guess wich ones I don´t agree with? ;)

Biggest Loser Night

Today I have been away all day on a preparationday for my summerjob. I am working 19 night at a seniorshouse to bring in some xtra cash. I did it the summer of 2006 and 2008 aswell but its good to refresh your mind once in a while. My eldest was babysitting all day but I was only 5 min away by bike and I was home for lunch to see how things was going and it was all fine... still I felt like I was jumping out of my skin. Once I was home they were all happy and sound but I guess its a mothers job to worry all the time :)

Now I am tired and I am soon going to relax watching the Biggest Loser finale. Wihooo! It´s a very good show!

Btw... my runningdays are over for a very long time... I was talking to a physiotherapist today and he  told me  I should only walk och bicykle for about 2 years... no more running! No No NOOOO! Running is like the best way to lose weight!
That sucks!

A maid anyone?

This has by far been one of the longest days of my life! I am so tired and my back is killing me after all the lifting and bending to pick up crying kids. I have cleaned like an idiot and still it´s not as good as it should be after so many hours... well... I guess thats life. Some times I just want to give up cleaning all together cuz if feels like a never ending stream of work... Let´s see if I can get you to understand...
1, Laundry: You wash, hand, dry and fold for an entire day.... next day you have to do it all again!
2, making dinner: You have to some up with something to cook, you cook it, they eat it - hopefully they like it an dthen it leaves you...
3, Dishes: You rinse, fill up the dishwasher, clean out the pots and pans knowing you´ll be doing it again in a few hours... 3-4 times a day
4, Picking up toys: You can keep doing it forever.. it will never end!
5, Nagging: Is there anyone home- you will be nagging... What? You only have little kids.. the nagging comes with age... It is draining!

Hopefully the little ones will sleep all night for the first time in 5 days cuz I need some well deserved rest! Two days down - 6 to go... I might just cry soon... 6 days left is a long time!

Some one help me! My kids hit puberty!

Oh dear... this night as been so long! It does make a huge difference if your alone with all the kids... and he has only been away for a day... how is this going to end? Hopefully in tears of joy and not anger... kids in puberty is HARD to deal with... I ask a question the answer is "hhmmm" I ask another one and the answer is " hhhhhe"... anyone else who also has these wonderful conversations with their kids?

My Husband and the Swedish Princess

So today has been a really bad blogupdate day since E is sick and I have done some groceryshopping... My husband is going away for 10 days to work with a Royal Wedding exebition so I had to do some big time shopping! I got 10 days woth of food to feed 8 kids (3 of my siblings and my mom is coming on wednesday) for about $113. Birthday Update

Well there was not much of a party yestoday cuzshe was not feeling very well so we will try again next week when my mom and 3 youngest siblings are here. She did like the cake anyhow and put on a brave face for the camera in her PJ´s.

Here are some photos of the gift I made for her. The prints were taken when she was 4 months old.

A housewife- hot of the press

well. I am done making the cake when I got a phonecall from Expressen a national newspaper in Sweden and they wanted to interview me since I am a stay at home mom.. :) Thats funny! So I am looking out for my picture in the paper next week :)

Now I better go fix the rest of the birthday decorations and I will post pictures later on. Here is a picture of the cake as a teaser;) I decided to not go for the traditional round cake but a sqare just for variation. OOOH! Exotic!
Just kidding :)

G´s sleeping in the hammock...

We were playing in the hammock and I went inside for 2 minutes and when I came back he was asleep. QT!
Not surprised... he woke up at 4,30am...

You know you´r a tired mom when...

* You wonder why there is a hole in the bottom of the kids pj´s and no room for the head... Hm... I put it on upside down....

* It´s the most natural thing in the world that you have an audience in the bathroom.

* You almost wiped yourself with a dinosaur... Luckily your kid din´t wanna play with toiletpaper and you realized your mistake just in time...

* You put on a tiny diaper on you toddler and he is the only on to react...

* You get smacked in the face with a toy for falling asleep on the sofa...

It is all my own experiences... enjoy!

Fever on her birthday!

At 4am little E woke up and was crying and crying. She never wakes up crying so we knew something was wrong. Turns out she has a fever on her birthday poor girl. Hopefully she will sleep during the day so she will feel better tonight when we are having cake and opening presents.

At IKEA yestoday I let her play in the playrooms to find out what things she liked most and it was NOT the things I thought of...
She really liked hiding under the leaf and playing in the tunnle so if thats what she wants, that is what she will get. I am also working on a more personal gift that she hopefully will like whan she is older. I will post a picture later when I am finished. Now I have to go and bake the cake... Have to buy fresh strawberries to but that will have to wait until Big A gets back from school so Little E can stay home.

E´s 1st Bithday!

So tomorrow is my daughters firts birthday! I am planning her cake and it will be a traditional swedish strawberry and cream cake. It is the most summery treat you could emagine and it is so fresh! I´ll post a recipe later on...
I still havent bought her gifts yet since I dont know what to buy but I have some ideas. Since she is only 1 I will get her something she can have use for in a few years. Now she only plays with G´s baby toys and its stupid to have doubles of everything...
This minikitchen is from IKEA and hass electric lights. The huge Ladybug is also from IKEA and she always loves playing with is at the store :) I´ll get her something more but this is my plan for now. I will go in to IKEA later this afternoon  and have a look.

It Totally Sucks!

There are many things about housekeeping I find boring.. Like dishes, piapers, and cleaning the kitchen... But worst of it all is the bathrooms! There is nothing I like about cleaning in there! No matter if it´s the tub, the sink, the floor, tiles or the dreaded toilet. I just plain HATE it! The dust collects in the moist after showers and you can srub yourself green and still I never find it clean enough. I feel like germs are attacking from all over and every breath I take is filled with the evil dirt that flyes around me! My husband hates cleaning the toilet to, so he never has since we got married... Maybe you figured out that I just came out of the bathroom after clening it and if you did then you´re right! I have been scrubbing the tiles in the shower so hard and for so long my arms hurt. But I do love a clean bathroom and that is the ONLY reason I ever do it!

Free MP3 Books

I just found this amazing website where you can download soundbooks for free to you computer! Great! I need a change for my morning walks and a book would be much better than my old music on my phone, so tomorrow I am going to listen to " Sense and  Sensibility" by Jane Austen. You´ll find the books here.
Perfect!!

Monday Monday

Got up at 5,45 todya again and took my hour walk. No sun today, to bad. Today I have a chill day. Not much to do exept the usual, looking after the little ones, cleaning, cooking, changing diapers... I am going to shop for some vegetables and going to give the kids some money to buy flowers for their teachers since its last school day on thursday. And when I am out I will take a 40 min walk with the stroller. All for health and fitness... sigh. How I wish I was one of those naturally skinny persons that can eat anything anytime and still be 100 lbs... not fare. Well... I have 20 lbs of pregnancyweight left and my daughter turns 1 on wednesday, scandalous! After G was born it took me 10 months to drop the pregnancyweight. It´s a lot harder this time around! And after that is gone I still have 17,5 lbs left to my goal weight. Yipiekayey...

Tips to survive life as a stay at home mom

1. Nap.. if there is any chance of a nap.. take it! You´ll never know when you´ll be able to sleep nest or for how long...

2. Take a brake. Me and V regularly has a move night with cheese and crackers or just go for a walk alone or with a friend, but NO KIDS! You need adult time.

3. Face the facts- your house will never look like a Martha Stewart magazine while you have little kids, unless you have a fulltime nanny or a housekeeper... but then again.. who does?

4. Find time to do things you like a few times a week, scrapbooking, quilting, going to the gym.

5. Drop the guilt! It is the most comon most dangerous things that could happen to a mother. Let the guilt bite the dust. You´r not a bad mom just cuz you want to be alone sometimes. :)

Bty.. I am working on all of these things, I need to get better...

Just do it!

Today I have been frezing rhubarbs for the third timme this year. They keep growing like crazy and I am extatic! We also seem to be able to get alot of strawberries from our new garden :) But it will not be enough for all the things I have planned to make this summer. I am going to make strawberrylomonade, strawberryjam, and just regular frozen strawberries for smoothies and cakes. Luckily we live close by to a "pick you self" field of the most amazing strawberries. In our own garden we also have apples, gooseberries and currantbushes so I have a ton of things to can and freeze! Lovely!

And who can resist fresh sunwarm strawberries with milk and sugar? ;)

Spring market

Today the town I live in has a little market down by the old smithy and we go every year and my little boy G always gets so exited around all the people and animals. Last year I was 7 days overdue and not so happy about the heat but this time I am kicki´n it! It´s so much fun looking att all the stuff, getting som ideas for decorating my home and buying some faircandy for the kids. V is joining us with her son and G is totally in live with her so he is extatic! Well, I better get ready cuz it starts in 1 1/2 hrs and my husband is still in bed while I am up with the kids. Is that a man thing to always sleep in while the mom is awake early with kids every day???

SATC Charlotte is a sissy whimp

Last night me and my good friend V went to see a movie. SATC2, it was filled with fashion no one would ever wear IRL and it was funny I admit but there was not much brain I tell you. There was a part in the movie where Charlotte lockes herself in the penrty to get away from her kids constant yelling and crying. Any stay at home mother kinda feels with her cuz we all have moments like that when its all overwhelming, but later on she was talkning to Miranda about this and then she said "Being a mother is hard and I have a fulltime nanny" And then they toasted to all mothers that don´t have nannys- and they had no clue how they survive... What the heck?! If I had a fulltime nanny my house would look like a museem all the time and I would always be happy and rested. My friend V comented on this after the move and we both agreed that Charlotte is a sissy whimp! All power to all stay at home moms with no fulltime nannys! Not that I would mind a part time one sometimes :)

17 with 3 children

Right now both my little ones are sleeping and I have a moment for just me. I am waching a program online about a girl who had 3 children by 17. She had her first at 16 and had twins by 17. I am not promoting teenage pregnancy but this girl really impresses me. She is very mature and down to earth. I am very impressed. The program is in swedish but you can watch it here on her blog http://mammabecka.se/

What do you all think about teenagepregnancies? What is the best way to prevent it from happening?

Probably The best stroller in the world!

Phil and Teds Sport stroller is so easy to manuver and is great for shopping! No problems fitting thru doors or between store shelves. I just love it! Perfect for moms with nore than one child, plus you can make it into a single seat aswell. It´s all you´ll ever need!

Why I love summer

Just look at how happy my babies are out in the sun! Where can I find summer all year round?

Momsickle

last night I was putting my son to sleep in our bed cuz he keeps waking his sister, once he falls asleep we take him in to his own bed... but last night I fell asleep before he did (8,30) and I woke up at midnight, got ready for bed and went back to sleep. I woke up at 5,30, got up went for an hour walk like I usually do. The weather was fantastic as I walked in the woods but once I got out in the open the wind was freezing and sooo strong! Naturally I had the wind in my face- always my good luck! I had to lean on the wind to even get anywhere so when the wind stopped for a few seconds I almost fell over. Clever... The wind also made my eyes run so if anyone would have seen me they must have thought that I was crying for being up so early walking! lol Luckily the sun was on me relly strong otherwise I belive I would have turned in to a momsickle in the freezing winds.

Once I got back I quickly picked some flowers that are now in my livingroom and my kitchen smelling wonderfly!

No matter how cold it was... you have to admit it... I have a killer view on my morning walk!

The magic of a hammock

I just put up our hammock and the kids are going crazy in it. The littleones had their snack in it lying very still enjoying the moment. Good for them, better for me who got a 5 min brake from running around. I wonder if I will be able to spend any time in it at all this summer...

Decorating a hat

I never found a summerhat I wanted for my babygirl so I took one I had and made it girly with some flowers and som buttons. Simple and cute! I´ve had tons of complimants from other moms asking where I got it and after that - can you make one for me? She looks so cute and summery in this hat, but she doesen´t wanna weare it....

Things I Love

Just finished having lunch on a blanket in the garden with my 2year old son. I just love those little moments of peace with my babies, no pressure just relaxing tlakning about little things he wants to alk about, he gives me a kiss and says " mama, I lobe you" ;) Now he´s off playing something and I am NOT allowed to know what is is. Should I be worried?

Don´t put your dust in my dustbin!

Well, today I am having a friend and her baby girl over for a play date and I am trying to clean things up. It´s a funny thing how quickly the piles of rubbish and dust gather and collect everywhere! I think it might be planning a future attack one day when I am caught of guard. But I am not losing this battle! I will never give up! Not even when I am almost 100% certain my kids are all in on the attack helping to clutter the house! I will not surender! I am a housewife- I am General Housekeeper and I will fight and winn all the battles against the mess! You mark my words!

No more talkning!

March forward!

Attack!
